Weather Clock – Weatherman, Calendar and Alarm Clock
Everyone has a specific ritual they go through in the morning. Mine is to get out of bed, get me a bowl of cereal, and fire up my computer to check out the weather. Of course, I could just open the window and see how things look outside. But thanks to my computer, and thanks to specialized software, I have access to a lot more information than I could ever gather with my senses – at least from a weather forecast point of view.
Or I could just turn on the TV and listen to the weather forecast. But software is a lot more convenient. I have to wait for the weather report to come on, then pay attention to whatever the newsgirl is saying. With software a ton of info about the weather is delivered straight to my desktop – and I can access it whenever it is convenient for me.
One software application that focuses on the weather is the aptly named Weather Clock. Once downloaded (download weighs in at little over 2MB) and installed on your Windows-powered computer, this application does three things
1- It replaces the default Windows clock. The new clock presents the hour of the day and details about the weather (current temperature). The great thing is that you can set up alarms; the downside is that you can set up to 10 alarms in the freeware version. The other great thing is that you can play with the clock and set it to display the date, day of the week, or get it to display system up time (for how long the system has been up and running).
2 – It displays a monthly calendar, which is incredibly similar to my Month Calendar Yahoo! Widget.
3 – It display the current weather conditions: temperature, wind direction, wind speed, forecast for the rest of the day and for the following days.
The calendar and the weather dialog hides away out of sight and only comes out when you place the mouse cursor over the clock (bottom right hand side of the monitor).
Weather Clock provides the functionality of a weather app combined with the functionality of a calendar and an alarm clock. A nice application to use to stay on top of the weather.
